The problem is no longer about kids eating too much candy, or teens becoming couch potatoes. It seems that everyone is too busy, or doesn’t have the means to eat better quality food. This applies to the elderly, who cannot always get access to the best foods, working parents who are too busy to cook, single executives who cannot find the time and even students who are on a fixed budget.
Unfortunately, this trend leans toward fast-food restaurants and “ready-made” grocery store choices. The fat and sodium content of the majority of these options far exceeds the daily recommended intake and the average household budget cannot accommodate frequent healthy restaurant visits.
There is good news, though. Recently, some affordable, healthier menus have become available, by way of take-home, or delivered, freshly-made meals. One such example is Montreal’s “Mama Mimi”. Mama Mimi offers a weekly changing menu of 5 meals, the first three meals are delivered on Sunday (for Monday-Tuesday-Wednesday) and the last two on Wednesday (for Thursday-Friday). These meals are always fresh, never frozen and don’t contain extra preservatives. Meals can even be purchased as a gift, for an elderly relative or for new parents.
Thankfully, many people are becoming more aware of the need to eat a more balanced meal and are finding that there are these better options available.
